Description

While for many people, Thanksgiving is synonymous with family, food and friends. At school, children are taught that because Native Americans helped the Pilgrims they were invited to join them for a friendly feast. However, this oversimplification of a historical event is problematic as it doesn’t tell the full story of what actually takes place.

Native Americans have often expressed their disapproval of Thanksgiving as it ignores the genocide and the suffering Indigenous people suffered at the hands of Europeans. Instead of reinforcing false and inaccurate narratives about Thanksgiving, use this resource to shift the conversation and focus on GRATITUDE.
